The After School Corporation (TASC) is a non-profit organization that runs in-school after-school programs in 150+ sites for children in grades 1 to 12 in New York City.
CCD worked closely with TASC since just after TASC’s first year to accurately keep track of participants’ (more than 80,000 in total) attendance and enrollment in the programs. Database Management was a challenge due to the lack of primary keys, and wide discrepancy in the spellings of student names. Programs reported directly to TASC and to CCD with their enrollment and attendance data. Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server databases were used to store the information and to run weekly, monthly, yearly, and cross-year reports and analyses. Each year CCD created invoices for TASC to bill more than $10,000,000 to government agencies for running the after-school programs.
